Put the Kettle on!

The Suzuki GT750 owners have formed a club called the Kettle Club

The Club – so named because this water-cooled two-stroke has a large radiator – will be showing ten of these unusual bikes at this year’s show. Pub fact alert: this bike was also dubbed the ‘Flexi Flier’ when Barry Sheene raced one with the Heron Suzuki Race Team in the Seventies!

Take my wife, no seriously take my wife!

Back in the 70’s comedy legends were created at the Wheeltappers and Shunters Social Club.

The legendary Bernard Manning compered while fellow stand-up veteran Colin Crompton played ‘Mr Chairman’ at friendliest yet completely fake working men’s club in the North. Amid the boozing, bingo and committee announcements the show features rising stars and evergreen entertainers, some of the best-known contemporary acts and the occasional musical oddity; pianist Mrs Mills (the ‘First Lady of Clubland’), Bill Haley and his Comets, The Three Degrees, Marty Wilde and Gene Pitney appeared alongside then-newcomers Cannon and Ball, Dustin Gee, Little and Large and the Krankies. Future Coronation Street star Liz Dawn was even among the waitresses serving the beer!

You can win the complete series one DVD boxset of The Wheeltappers and Shunters Social Club. To win just email: win@necclassicmotorshow.com putting SHUNTER in the subject box with your name, address and contact telephone number. Winners will be selected at random and the competition will close on Friday 25th September so can we have some order please!
